Tap is a UK-rooted crypto and money app that offers a debit card you can fund from either crypto or fiat balances. It has been around since before the current wave of crypto cards, which makes it more established than most of the newer offerings — and more conservative in its fee disclosures.
The headline numbers are eye-catching: up to 8% cashback on qualified purchases and up to 8% APY on balances. The detail matters, though: cashback is paid in XTP, Tap's own token, so its real-world value depends on the token's price rather than being fixed in dollars or euros. Paying with XTP cuts fees by 25%, which reinforces the token dependency.
There is no monthly subscription, the virtual card is free, and the physical card carries a one-off issuance fee of around £12.99. Region availability is restricted to the UK and EEA.
Tap combines crypto and fiat balances in one app with a free virtual card and no monthly subscription. WhiteBIT Nova goes further on fees with a zero-fee EEA card, and OrbitX charges a small annual fee for its two Visa tiers.
