Exa is the consumer face of Exactly Protocol, and its card takes the opposite approach to most crypto cards. Instead of selling your crypto to fund spending, you borrow against it at fixed rates and spend the loan - so the asset stays put and keeps earning.
Credit, not conversion
The Exa Card is a free virtual Visa Signature credit card with two modes in one instrument: pay instantly, or split a purchase into fixed-rate installments. There is no credit check, because your spending power comes from collateral rather than a credit history, and Exactly describes the account as self-custodial, secured with passkeys and backed by non-custodial smart contracts. Yield on your deposited collateral is variable and not guaranteed, and using assets as collateral exposes you to liquidation if the market moves against your position.
What comes with it
Visa Signature grade perks are included - airport lounge access, car rental insurance and restaurant discounts - plus a wallet you can freeze instantly, real-time notifications, and the ability to receive USD or EUR from services like Payoneer, Wise, Deel and Upwork, then withdraw to a bank account. Several features are still in the pipeline: ATM withdrawals, debt refinancing, partial debt payments and QR payments are all flagged as coming soon.
Who it suits
This is a card for people who already hold crypto and would rather borrow than sell - the classic "borrowing isn't selling" case. It carries no cashback, so the comparison is against other collateral-backed products rather than against reward cards; our crypto lending platform directory is the better starting point for that, and the crypto card directory for everything else. Exa Labs SAS states that cards are issued by licensed third parties and that access may be restricted in some jurisdictions.
