Ondo Finance Walks Its Tokens Into the Mutual Fund Mainstream

Ondo token, tokenized assets aur institutional mutual fund adoption ko dikhata finance concept image.

Summary :

  • Ondo Finance became the first tokenization company to join DTCC's Fund/SERV network via U.S. subsidiary Oasis Pro Markets.

  • Fund/SERV processes over 85% of U.S. mutual fund transaction volume — orders, confirmations, reconciliation, distributions and reporting.

  • Oasis Pro is an SEC-registered broker-dealer, ATS, FINRA and SIPC member, with a registered transfer agent affiliate.

  • The membership builds on Ondo's June entry into DTCC's tokenization working group alongside BlackRock, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan.

  • Watch for the volume test: whether major fund distributors push tokenized share classes through Fund/SERV within the year.

Ondo Finance has become the first tokenization company admitted to DTCC's Fund/SERV network, the plumbing that processes more than 85% of U.S. mutual fund transaction volume, through its U.S. subsidiary Oasis Pro Markets. The membership, announced September 16, is the quiet kind of news that matters most: not a new token, not a new chain, but a standards-based connection between a tokenized-securities firm and the fund-industry infrastructure that every broker-dealer, adviser and wealth platform in America already touches, arriving on the same institutional wave that pushed tokenized stocks past $29.5 billion in onchain value.

Why Fund/SERV Membership Is a Distribution Unlock

The mechanics explain the significance. Fund/SERV is DTCC's standardized network for mutual fund transaction processing: orders, confirmations, reconciliation, distributions, account records, tax information and regulatory reporting all move through it. Without membership, Oasis Pro would need to build separate technical connections with every fund company and distributor it wanted to reach. With membership, it plugs into a network that the industry already runs on. Ondo President Ian De Bode's framing: the standardized connection lets Oasis Pro reach multiple companies without building a new integration for each one. That is an operational claim, not a legal one, and the distinction matters, the membership does not change the regulatory status of any product distributed through the pipe.

DTCC's side of the announcement is the tell. Talia Klein, a DTCC managing director, said Ondo's participation in Fund/SERV demonstrates how established industry infrastructure can support the next phase of market evolution. When the utility that clears America's mutual fund complex starts describing tokenization as the next phase, the institutional tone has shifted from whether to how.

The Regulated Route Behind the Connection

Oasis Pro Markets is not a crypto company in drag. It is an SEC-registered broker-dealer and alternative trading system, a FINRA member, and a SIPC member, with an affiliated transfer agent registered with the SEC. In July it received FINRA authorizations covering tokenized corporate equities and fund products for U.S. institutions and retail investors, supporting OTC retail transactions, underwritten primary offerings, private placements and secondary trading across NMS equities and interests in ETFs, mutual funds and index funds, with settlement possible in fiat or supported stablecoins, including transfers between blockchain wallets. The July authorizations were the permission layer; the Fund/SERV membership is the distribution layer. Both were necessary, and neither alone is sufficient, the same two-sided logic that carried the SEC's move toward recognizing blockchain ownership records.

The U.S.-offshore split also matters for American investors. Oasis Pro's registrations provide the domestic channel, while Ondo products issued through offshore structures remain restricted from U.S. persons unless registered or exempt. Omnibus account support means institutions, RIAs and retirement accounts can access tokenized securities through the financial firms they already use, which is precisely the point of joining a network rather than building a parallel one.

The DTCC Relationship Keeps Deepening

This membership is the second structural tie between Ondo and DTCC this year. In June, Ondo joined a DTCC tokenization working group alongside more than 50 financial companies, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Nasdaq, NYSE, Robinhood and Circle, testing operational and technical processes for tokenizing assets held at the Depository Trust Company. That service, authorized by an SEC no-action letter in December 2025 for a three-year window, covers Russell 1000 stocks, major index ETFs and Treasuries, with limited production transactions planned from July 2026 and full launch targeted for October, the track that fund managers like ARK have already tested with tokenized share classes. DTC held more than $114 trillion in assets when the timetable was announced. The tokenization service converts DTC-custodied securities into blockchain-recorded forms; Fund/SERV moves transactions and communications between fund managers and distributors. Ondo is now inside both, which is a deliberate two-sided strategy: tokenize the assets, then distribute them through the incumbent rails.

The product expansion gives the rails something to carry. Oasis Pro issues Ethereum-based tokens backed by securities held with regulated custodians, and in July completed an onchain deployment tied to BlackRock's iShares Core S&P 500 ETF and Micron shares under an SEC staff framework, keeping the underlying shares inside regulated custody. Ondo Network, launched in July, adds an execution layer for tokenized markets, and SBI Group agreed in July to tokenize Japanese stocks with Ondo, distributing through SBI's platforms with JPYSC stablecoin settlement.

What to Watch, Honestly

Two cautions belong next to the milestone. First, membership is plumbing, not demand: Fund/SERV connects Oasis Pro to distributors, but it guarantees nothing about how much tokenized product American wealth platforms will actually push. Second, the regulatory fine print stands: SEC and FINRA registration do not constitute approval of any specific tokenized security, and Ondo's own disclosures warn buyers may lose some or all invested money. The skeptic's test is volume, and the bull's test is whether a major fund distributor begins flowing tokenized share classes through Fund/SERV within the year. What is already true: the first tokenization firm is now formally inside America's mutual fund plumbing, and every incumbent connected to Fund/SERV can now reach tokenized products without leaving the network they already run on. In institutional finance, that is how adoption actually begins, not with a press release, but with a membership record.
