Bio
Michael Gronager is a Co-Founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Chainalysis, the blockchain intelligence and compliance company. He co-founded Chainalysis in 2014 alongside Jonathan Levin and Jan Møller, establishing what became one of the primary data and analytics platforms used by financial institutions, cryptocurrency exchanges and law enforcement agencies for blockchain transaction tracing, compliance and investigations.
Gronager's background includes early involvement in the cryptocurrency space, including work at Kraken — one of the first major crypto exchanges — as well as technical and scientific roles prior to founding Chainalysis. This early exposure to the cryptocurrency ecosystem's compliance and traceability challenges informed the founding of Chainalysis, which was built on the insight that blockchain transaction data could be systematically analyzed to identify patterns, entities and risk exposures.
In December 2024, Chainalysis announced that co-founder Jonathan Levin would succeed Gronager as CEO, and that Gronager would step down from his company role and the Board. His CEO role is therefore historical. Information last checked: August 2026.
