Bio
Ken Kodama is a Japanese blockchain entrepreneur and investor best known as the founder and chairman of EMURGO, one of the co-founding entities behind the Cardano blockchain. EMURGO drives the commercial adoption of blockchain technology through infrastructure, investment, enterprise partnerships, asset tokenization and Web3 financial services. Kodama co-founded the Cardano protocol in 2015 alongside Charles Hoskinson and other early contributors, working on business development and commercial promotion before establishing EMURGO in Japan in 2017 to serve as Cardano's official commercial arm. He served as EMURGO's CEO for approximately eight years, leading the company's global expansion from Japan to Singapore and into markets across Asia, Africa and the Americas. In April 2025, EMURGO officially announced that Phillip Pon had been appointed CEO of EMURGO Group, with Kodama transitioning to Chairman following the successful completion of Cardano's original roadmap milestones and the network's move to full decentralization and community governance. His current work focuses on long-term strategy, Cardano commercial adoption, real-world asset tokenization and Web3 investment. He is also the founder and CEO of Synapse Capital, a Singapore-based family office focused on emerging technologies, and serves as an Executive Advisor to Taisu Ventures.
