Bio
Kathryn Haun — known professionally as Katie Haun — is Founder and CEO of Haun Ventures, a cryptocurrency-focused venture capital firm she established in 2022 after departing Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), where she had served as a General Partner and co-led the firm's crypto investment practice. Haun Ventures invests across the cryptocurrency and web3 ecosystem, with focus areas including stablecoins, payments, tokenization, and crypto infrastructure.
Before her career in venture capital, Haun served as a United States federal prosecutor in the Department of Justice, where she worked on cryptocurrency-related cybercrime and financial cases. She later joined the DOJ's emerging-technology task force before transitioning to the private sector. She earned her undergraduate degree from Boston University and her law degree from Stanford Law School.
Prior to founding Haun Ventures, she served on the board of directors of Coinbase and co-led a16z's crypto funds. In 2026, Haun Ventures continues operating as an independent crypto-focused venture fund. Haun has been an active voice on U.S. digital asset regulation, arguing for regulatory clarity that supports innovation while managing consumer protection. She is one of few senior crypto investors with a formal prosecutorial and regulatory background, giving her firm a distinct positioning in policy-adjacent investment and portfolio guidance.
