Bio
Kathleen Breitman is Co-Founder of Tezos, a self-amending layer-1 blockchain designed to enable formal governance of its own protocol upgrades. She co-founded the project with Arthur Breitman, her husband and technical co-founder, with both named as the formal co-founders of Dynamic Ledger Solutions, the company historically associated with Tezos development prior to the Tezos Foundation taking over stewardship.
Before entering the blockchain space, Kathleen held roles at Bridgewater Associates, Accenture, and R3, a blockchain consortium focused on financial services. She studied at Cornell University, where she earned her undergraduate degree. Her combined background in institutional finance and technology strategy made her a central figure in designing Tezos's governance model and business strategy during its formative years.
Tezos raised approximately $232 million in a 2017 ICO, one of the largest at the time. Following a period of legal disputes between foundation leadership and the founders that was eventually resolved, Tezos launched its mainnet in 2018. The protocol operates on a liquid proof-of-stake consensus with on-chain governance allowing token holders to propose and vote on upgrades. In 2026, Tezos continues operating as an independent, community-governed network. Kathleen Breitman remains publicly associated with the Tezos ecosystem, commenting on capital markets, governance, and blockchain adoption.
