Bio
Diogo Mónica is a Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Anchorage Digital, and a General Partner at Haun Ventures. He co-founded Anchorage Digital in 2017 alongside Nathan McCauley, bringing together deep security engineering expertise to build the institutional-grade crypto custody and banking infrastructure that would eventually become America's first federally chartered digital asset bank.
Before co-founding Anchorage, Mónica worked as Security Lead at Square (now Block) and as a Security Engineer at Docker, where he and McCauley developed the shared security engineering background that shaped Anchorage's technical architecture. He holds a PhD in Distributed Systems Security, and his academic and professional work in authentication, security protocols and hardware-based credential protection informed Anchorage's design choices.
In 2024, Anchorage announced a leadership transition in which Mónica moved from President to Executive Chairman, a board-level strategic role, while McCauley remained CEO. Separately, Mónica took on a General Partner role at Haun Ventures, a crypto-focused venture firm. These are distinct positions; Haun Ventures portfolio activity should not be conflated with Anchorage Digital operations. Information last checked: August 2026.
