Two products, one app
Tangem Pay is worth understanding precisely, because the marketing can blur two things. The Tangem Wallet is a non-custodial hardware wallet: your keys and your assets stay yours. Tangem Pay is a separate Visa card program issued by Rain, a Visa Principal Member, with its own account, its own ID verification and its own balance. You can only spend the money you have loaded onto the card.
The tiers
Basic is a free virtual card with a 1% cashback rate, a $10,000 daily spending limit and up to three cards per user. Plus costs $29.99 a month - waived if you spend $4,500 in a month or hold $65,000 in Yield Mode - and doubles cashback to 2% with a $50,000 daily limit, Visa Signature benefits and two airport lounge visits a year. Prestige is $999 a year, brings 4% cashback, a $100,000 daily limit, Visa Infinite benefits, eight lounge visits and virtual, plastic and metal card formats.
The cashback detail
The headline rates come with caps: $100 a month on Basic, $300 on Plus and $1,000 on Prestige. The more interesting number is the promotional boost, where the first $500 of spend earns 5% on Basic, 10% on Plus and 15% on Prestige - that is marked as coming soon rather than live today. ATM withdrawals cost 4%, 2% and 1% by tier, which is high on Basic.
Who it suits
Tangem Pay makes most sense for people already holding a Tangem wallet who want a spending layer without moving their main holdings. Because the card account is separate and custodial, keep only what you intend to spend on it - the non-custody guarantee applies to your wallet, not to the card balance.
Tangem Pay is a Visa issued by Rain inside the Tangem Wallet app, letting hardware-wallet users top up with stablecoins or from a bank. The Ledger CL Card plays the same role for Ledger hardware wallets, and the Bitget Wallet Card covers software wallets.
