What the Simple Card is
Simple is a stablecoin-focused wallet with 2.5 million users across 195 countries, offering a virtual card issued through Wirex, its own IBAN, jars for saving and donating, token swaps across 150-plus assets and AI research agents. The card is linked directly to your crypto balance and can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay.
The critical caveat
On 18 June 2026 the operator, Stored Assets Ltd, announced the permanent cessation of all custodial wallet services, complying with the expiry of transitional periods under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. Users were required to act by 30 June 2026, after which the app interface transitioned to withdrawal-only mode. Assets had to be moved either to the app's self-custody wallet, with network fees covered by the operator, or withdrawn to an external wallet or bank account.
Why this matters for the card
A virtual card linked to a custodial balance depends on that custodial service existing. With custodial services permanently closed, EUR balances unable to migrate to the self-custody wallet and the interface operating in withdrawal-only mode, anyone considering this card should confirm its current status with the provider before funding anything.
Otherwise a capable wallet
The underlying product has real strengths: self-custody, seed-phrase recovery even if the phrase is lost, Face ID protection, real-time scam detection, optional no-name and no-phone signup, gas fees absorbed on transfers, and strong store ratings of 4.8 on the App Store and 4.9 on Google Play.
Simple is a stablecoin wallet with millions of users whose virtual card is issued through Wirex. The same banking-as-a-service route underpins the UTORG Cryptocard, while Holyheld issues through Unlimit EU with a non-custodial link.
