What the Fiwind Card is
Fiwind is an Argentine app that puts crypto, dollars, shares and payments in one place, and its card is one of the simplest propositions in this directory: a 100% virtual Mastercard prepaid card that is free to request and free to maintain, with no commissions on card payments. You pay with pesos, dollars or crypto, and the conversion happens in real time at the best rate available at that moment.
It works through Apple Pay and Google Pay for contactless payments at any terminal, and as an international card for purchases abroad, online and on digital services and subscriptions. Fiwind also covers the local payment habits that matter in Argentina: QR payments through Mercado Pago, Modo, Ualá, Cuenta DNI and any other interoperable code, bill and tax payments, and phone top-ups.
Why the card is only half the story
Fiwind's real draw is what sits behind the card. Balances earn yield while you hold them - 4% on USDT and USDC, 2% on POL and DOT, 1% on ADA, 0.5% on BTC and ETH - paid daily in the account. On the peso side, Fiwind pays up to 20% a year as a bonus on the first 750,000 pesos, with the excess earning 17.7% a year. Those are aggressive rates for an app in a market where holding pesos has historically been the fastest way to lose value.
The app also handles cross-border flows that usually require a bank: an international dollar account in your own name for receiving and sending ACH and Wire transfers, and Pix payments to Brazil, where you send pesos and the recipient receives reais in their account or wallet, plus instant receipt of reais converted into pesos or USDT.
What is not disclosed
The issuing bank and the licence behind the card are not named - the published terms confirm it is a prepaid card usable wherever Mastercard is accepted, and say nothing about who issues it. The FX spread applied when a crypto or dollar balance converts at the point of sale is also not published, and neither are the spending limits. On top of that, Argentine taxes and surcharges on international purchases apply separately from anything Fiwind charges, and those can be more significant than the card's own costs.
Who it suits
For an Argentine user who already keeps dollars or stablecoins and wants a free way to spend them locally and abroad - with QR payments and bill payments in the same app - Fiwind is a practical, well-featured choice, and the yield rates make holding a balance in the app rather than a plain exchange account more attractive. If you are outside Argentina, this card is not available to you; browse the crypto cards directory for programmes in other regions, or compare Bleap for a European neo-bank style card.
