Mochatrade Hits $5.56M Funding for US Stock Perpetuals

Mochatrade has reached $5.56 million in total funding, with CoinFund leading its latest financing and Coinbase Ventures participating. The YC-backed startup targets Indian traders with US stock perpetuals and UPI funding. Its advertised leverage reaches 50x, but traders gain price exposure rather than share ownership.

Mochatrade Hits $5.56M Funding for US Stock Perpetuals

Key Takeaways

  • The $5.56 million represents total funding, including an earlier $690,000 pre-seed round.
  • CoinFund led the seed financing, with Coinbase Ventures participating.
  • Mochatrade advertises US stock perpetuals with up to 50x leverage and rupee deposits through UPI.
  • These contracts provide price exposure, not company ownership. Funding payments and liquidation rules can materially affect returns.

Mochatrade has reached $5.56 million in total funding as it builds a way for Indian traders to take leveraged positions on US stock prices. CoinFund led the latest financing, with Coinbase Ventures participating. The product offers exposure to those prices through perpetual futures, not ownership of American shares.

That distinction matters more than the familiar company names on the trading screen. Buying a contract linked to Nvidia does not make you an Nvidia shareholder. It gives you a position whose gains and losses depend on the contract’s price and trading rules.

What the Mochatrade funding announcement tells us

The financing was announced on October 26, 2026. The reported $5.56 million is cumulative funding, including an earlier $690,000 pre-seed round. It should not be described as a $5.56 million seed round on top of that earlier money. Y Combinator and Pioneer Fund backed the pre-seed financing.

For a young trading business, the new capital provides resources to develop its product. It does not establish customer demand or prove that the platform will perform reliably during a sharp market move. Investor backing and trading performance are separate questions.

In its founder-written launch description, Mochatrade describes a terminal built on Hyperliquid, advertising more than 50 US stock perpetuals and leverage of up to 50x. The company also promotes rupee deposits through UPI and withdrawals to a verified bank account.

Those are product claims, not results from an independent execution test.

A stock ticker does not make it a share

Perpetual futures are contracts without a scheduled expiry date. Traders can take a long position to benefit from a price rise or a short position to benefit from a decline. Keeping that position open depends on meeting margin requirements and the venue’s rules.

There is no underlying share in your brokerage account. A perpetual position does not give you shareholder voting rights or a direct claim to the company’s dividends. Any treatment of dividend events depends on the contract’s terms, rather than ordinary shareholder entitlements.

This is also different from buying a token backed by a share. Bitnxt’s earlier reporting on Apple and Nvidia stock tokens on Solana examined questions around backing and brokerage transfers. With a perpetual, the first question is different: how does the contract track its reference price, and what can force the position to close?

Funding payments are part of that answer. These transfers between long and short traders help keep perpetual prices close to their reference market. Depending on the funding rate and your position, you may pay or receive them. A correct view on a stock’s direction does not guarantee a profitable trade after funding and other costs.

What 50x leverage means for your money

Consider a simplified example, not a Mochatrade liquidation quote. A $1,000 long position at 50x leverage requires $20 of initial margin. A 1% fall in the contract price produces roughly a $10 trading loss before fees, consuming half that initial margin.

A 2% adverse move would mathematically equal the entire $20. In practice, liquidation can happen earlier because the account must retain maintenance margin. Fees and the venue’s pricing rules also affect the threshold. There is no universal rule that every 50x position survives until exactly a 2% move.

Around-the-clock trading adds another question. US stock exchanges have defined trading sessions; crypto-based contracts can continue trading outside them. When the underlying cash market is closed, traders need to understand how reference prices are calculated and how much liquidity is available. A constantly available buy button is not a promise of a good exit price.

UPI makes depositing money familiar. It does not change these mechanics. Nor should a convenient payment method be treated as proof of regulatory approval for a particular product. Claims about legal and tax treatment require separate verification against the rules applicable to each user.

Bitnxt Take: The real test comes after the deposit

Our view is that Mochatrade’s most interesting idea is its local payment experience, rather than its maximum leverage. Putting US-price derivatives behind a familiar rupee interface could make the product easier for experienced Indian traders to understand and access. But simplifying entry is only half the job.

There is useful history in Bitnxt’s September coverage of Coinbase’s proposed stock perpetuals. The appeal of continuous stock-price exposure was already drawing attention before this funding announcement. Mochatrade’s pitch adds an India-focused payment experience to that broader product direction.

The lesson from Bitnxt’s earlier analysis of what stock tokens actually represent applies here too: the label matters less than the rights and obligations underneath it. Share-backed tokens and leveraged perpetuals should not be presented as interchangeable ways to invest.

For Bitnxt, the next evidence worth watching is practical: transparent contract specifications and reliable withdrawals during stressed trading. Can users see their funding costs and liquidation price clearly before they commit money? That would tell us more about the product than another prominent investor name.
