Personal website W Group website

Bio

Volodymyr Nosov is a Ukrainian entrepreneur best known for founding WhiteBIT in 2018 and later building the broader W Group ecosystem across cryptocurrency trading, blockchain infrastructure, payments and other technology businesses. WhiteBIT developed into an international cryptocurrency exchange offering spot trading, margin, futures and other digital-asset services, while W Group expanded the business into blockchain, fintech, payment and technology activities. Nosov's current role is centered on W Group as Founder and President. His work has increasingly focused on international expansion, institutional adoption, blockchain infrastructure and linking Web3 products with mainstream businesses.

Early Career and First Business

Before entering cryptocurrency, Nosov worked in sales and built a distribution business. According to his official biography, he founded a distribution company in 2011 and later sold his interest before moving into cryptocurrency. The company's name, sector and exit terms have not been independently disclosed.

Moving Into Cryptocurrency

Nosov entered the cryptocurrency industry in the late 2010s. He has described recognizing an opportunity to build a cryptocurrency exchange that could serve international markets with a focus on security and compliance. Ukraine had become an active crypto market, and Nosov saw potential in building infrastructure for digital-asset trading.

Founding WhiteBIT

WhiteBIT was founded in 2018, with official operations beginning in November 2018. The exchange was established in Lithuania and initially offered spot trading. Nosov founded the company with a small team and built it into a larger operation over subsequent years. WhiteBIT is part of W Group.

What Is WhiteBIT?

WhiteBIT is a cryptocurrency exchange that, as of August 2026, offers spot trading, margin trading, futures, staking and earning products, an institutional platform, OTC trading and API services. The exchange lists 360+ assets and 1020+ trading pairs according to its official website. WhiteBIT also operates a separate US platform. The company describes itself as the largest European cryptocurrency exchange by traffic, a self-reported claim that has not been independently verified by Bitnxt.

WhiteBIT and W Group

WhiteBIT is the cryptocurrency exchange and digital-asset platform. W Group is the broader business ecosystem founded and led by Nosov. WhiteBIT is part of W Group but the two are not identical legal entities. W Group includes additional companies across payments, blockchain, media, sports and other sectors.

W Group

W Group is the parent ecosystem for Nosov's businesses. According to WhiteBIT's official website, W Group serves more than 40 million customers globally, a self-reported figure. Companies within the W Group ecosystem include WhiteBIT (exchange), Whitepay (crypto payments), Whitechain (EVM blockchain), Coinomist (analytics and news), WhiteMarket (P2P skins marketplace), PayUnicard (Georgia-based payments), WhiteSwap (decentralized exchange) and the ByHi Show (blockchain entertainment). In 2026, Spyker Cars also joined the W Group ecosystem.

WhiteBIT Coin (WBT)

WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) is the native exchange coin of the WhiteBIT ecosystem. WBT provides trading-fee benefits and ecosystem utility, and also serves as the native gas token for Whitechain. WBT has been listed on additional exchanges, including Kraken. A listing provides trading support and does not constitute an endorsement of token value. Volodymyr Nosov does not personally control WBT.

Whitechain

Whitechain is an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain built on the go-ethereum protocol and integrated into the WhiteBIT ecosystem. It uses Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus and WBT as its native gas token. Whitechain mainnet is live. The blockchain is developed by the WhiteBIT team; Nosov's role is at the company leadership level, not as a protocol developer.

Security

WhiteBIT states that it keeps the majority of customer assets in cold storage. As of August 2026, WhiteBIT's official website reports approximately 96% of assets held in cold wallets. The exchange uses a Web Application Firewall (WAF) and multi-layer asset screening with AML providers. WhiteBIT has undergone security assessment by Hacken. According to the CER.live certification platform, WhiteBIT ranks among the five most secure crypto exchanges, a ranking that depends on CER.live's methodology and date. No exchange is risk-free.

Regulatory Status

WhiteBIT's legal entity is based in Lithuania. The exchange states compliance with applicable EU, UN, FATF, OFAC SDN and UK HM Treasury sanctions regimes, and Austrian FM-GwG requirements. As of August 2026, Bitnxt has not independently confirmed that WhiteBIT has received a full MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization from the Bank of Lithuania. Lithuania's MiCA transition period ended on January 1, 2026, after which CASP licensing is mandatory. In March 2026, WhiteBIT was selected as one of 11 companies to participate in Ghana's crypto regulatory sandbox, launched by the Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission. Sandbox participation is a testing framework and is not equivalent to a full unrestricted licence. WhiteBIT operates a separate US platform. Bitnxt has not confirmed FCA authorization for WhiteBIT in the United Kingdom.

WhiteBIT and Ukraine

WhiteBIT was founded by a Ukrainian entrepreneur and maintains ties to Ukraine. Since 2014, the company has supported Ukraine. Since April 2022, WhiteBIT has cooperated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, supporting consular services and the Anti-Crisis Center. In April 2022, Whitepay became a partner of UNITED24, and the exchange donated 10 million UAH in USDT. WhiteBIT participated in the Kalush Orchestra auction for the Eurovision 2022 crystal microphone, with a bid of $900,000 directed to purchasing drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, WhiteBIT stated that it blocked users from Russia and Belarus and discontinued Russian ruble trading pairs, which the company said cost it a significant portion of its user base.

Crypto Payments

Whitepay, part of the W Group ecosystem, provides cryptocurrency payment solutions for businesses and charities, including crypto acquiring, POS terminals and payment pages. Whitepay is a separate product from the WhiteBIT exchange itself.

Institutional Crypto

WhiteBIT offers services for institutional clients including market makers, funds and corporate accounts, with OTC trading, API access and liquidity services. Nosov's strategy around institutional adoption has been a recurring theme in the company's public communications.

Partnerships and Sports

WhiteBIT has used sports partnerships as part of its international brand expansion strategy. In December 2022, WhiteBIT became the official cryptocurrency exchange partner of FC Barcelona in a three-year deal initially running until June 2025. In April 2026, the partnership was extended for five more years, until 2030. WhiteBIT is also a partner of Juventus, the Ukrainian national football team, FACEIT, lifecell and TradingView. Nosov is the Owner and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FC Metalist 1925, a Ukrainian football club based in Kharkiv.

Investment in Spyker

In June 2026, WhiteBIT announced that Nosov had acquired a significant stake in Dutch luxury sports-car manufacturer Spyker, becoming a co-owner. As part of the transaction, Spyker joined the W Group ecosystem. Victor Muller remains Founder and CEO of Spyker. The exact ownership percentage has not been disclosed. W Group described the investment as part of its expansion beyond fintech into premium manufacturing, with plans for "Spyker Digital" to integrate blockchain products with the automotive brand.

Honorary Consul

Volodymyr Nosov serves as Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the Balearic Islands, Spain. The consulate operates in Palma. This diplomatic designation has been reported by diplomatic media and confirmed on Nosov's official professional profiles.

Industry and Policy Roles

In December 2024, Nosov joined the Strategic Board of Diia.City United, a Ukrainian tech industry initiative. This is an industry association role, not a Ukrainian government appointment.

Current Work

As of August 2026, Nosov's primary role is Founder and President of W Group. His work focuses on W Group's international expansion, regulatory engagement, institutional crypto adoption, payments infrastructure, Whitechain, WBT, and strategic investments including Spyker. He also serves as Owner and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FC Metalist 1925 and as Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the Balearic Islands.

Risks and Considerations

Cryptocurrency exchanges carry custodial and counterparty risk: customer assets are held by the exchange and are exposed to operational, cybersecurity and insolvency risk. Token volatility, jurisdiction restrictions and regulatory changes can affect access and value. WhiteBIT, like all centralized exchanges, is not risk-free. Users should evaluate their own risk tolerance and verify current regulatory status in their jurisdiction before using any exchange.
