Obi Nwosu is Co-Founder and CEO of Fedi, the company building a community superapp on the open-source Fedimint protocol. Fedi combines community-managed federations, Bitcoin and Lightning payments, ecash-style privacy and encrypted communications. Nwosu previously co-founded and led UK Bitcoin exchange Coinfloor until its sale in 2021 and serves in Bitcoin ecosystem governance roles including Btrust. Fedi was founded in 2022 with Eric Sirion and Justin Moon and launched its public community superapp in August 2024.
Fedi & Fedimint
Fedimint uses federations of guardians and Chaumian ecash, integrated with Bitcoin and Lightning. Users trust a threshold of federation guardians rather than one centralized custodian — this is federated custody, not individual on-chain self-custody. Fedi adds chat and extensible community features around value transfer. Guardian failure, collusion, recovery, software and governance risks must be explained. July 2022 seed round: $4.2 million. Public superapp launch: August 2024.
