Bio
Lukas Schor is Co-Founder of Safe and President of the Safe Ecosystem Foundation Council. Safe is a smart-account infrastructure platform for Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks, offering multi-signature and smart-contract account security for individuals, institutions, and DAOs. Safe (formerly known as Gnosis Safe) originated within the Gnosis ecosystem, where Schor served as a Gnosis project lead before Safe was spun out into an independent foundation structure.
Safe co-founders formally associated with the project include Schor, Richard Meissner, Stefan George, and other contributors from the original Gnosis Safe team. Schor studied at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), though specific degree details have not been independently confirmed from institutional sources.
Safe's smart-contract account architecture enables multiple signers, modular security policies, and programmable transaction logic, providing a higher level of security than externally owned accounts (EOAs). In 2026, Safe operates as an independent ecosystem with the Safe Ecosystem Foundation as a governance body, SafeDAO as the token-holder governance layer, and the SAFE token used for governance participation. Safe Wallet is the primary user-facing application, while the safe-contracts codebase serves as an open standard for smart-account infrastructure adopted across the broader Ethereum ecosystem including ERC-4337 and account abstraction frameworks. Schor's public commentary has focused on smart-account adoption, account abstraction standards, and the transition from EOA-centric to programmable-account-centric blockchain usage.
