Bio
Leona Hioki is Co-Founder and CEO of INTMAX, a stateless zero-knowledge rollup Layer 2 protocol designed for Ethereum. INTMAX's distinguishing architectural approach is its client-side, state-minimized design — the protocol is structured so that the network nodes do not need to store user state, dramatically reducing the infrastructure burden of running the network compared to conventional ZK-rollup designs. This approach is intended to improve scalability and privacy while enabling payments and transfers with minimal on-chain footprint.
Hioki studied at Kyoto University, though specific degree titles and completion status have not been independently confirmed from official records. Before founding INTMAX, she contributed to security and privacy research within the blockchain space, participated in the Plasma research community, and received an Ethereum Foundation grant for early-stage research work that preceded the INTMAX protocol.
Hioki is also associated with Ryodan Systems AG, a Swiss entity connected to INTMAX's development and operations. In 2026, INTMAX continues developing its stateless ZK-rollup infrastructure, INTMAX Wallet, and privacy-preserving payment capabilities. Hioki is active in the ZK and Ethereum research communities, publishing and speaking on stateless validation, machine-to-machine payments, and the intersection of privacy with scalable blockchain design.
