Bio
Jonathan Levin is a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chainalysis, the blockchain intelligence platform used by financial institutions, cryptocurrency exchanges, regulators and law enforcement agencies worldwide. Levin co-founded Chainalysis in 2014 with Michael Gronager and Jan Møller, bringing an economics and data analysis background to the challenge of making cryptocurrency transaction data interpretable for compliance, investigations and risk management.
Levin studied economics at the University of Oxford and was an early researcher into cryptocurrency markets through Coinometrics, a blockchain data research project. This analytical background shaped Chainalysis's approach to blockchain intelligence — treating on-chain transaction data as an analyzable dataset that can reveal patterns about entities, flows and risks.
Levin served in strategy and leadership roles throughout Chainalysis's growth, including as Chief Strategy Officer, before being appointed CEO in December 2024, succeeding co-founder Michael Gronager. Under Levin, Chainalysis has expanded into AI-powered blockchain intelligence agents and acquired Alterya (fraud prevention) and Hexagate (smart contract and protocol security) to broaden its platform.
