Jinglan Wang is a Co-Founder of Optimism and serves as CEO of OP Labs, the primary development organization behind the Optimism Layer-2 ecosystem. With a background in software engineering and product management, Wang has been instrumental in shaping Optimism's technical direction and organizational culture.
Optimism launched its mainnet in 2021 as an optimistic rollup on Ethereum, offering EVM-compatible smart-contract execution with significantly lower fees. Under Wang's leadership, OP Labs developed the OP Stack — a modular, open-source framework for building Layer-2 blockchains — and pioneered the concept of a "superchain" of interconnected OP Stack chains sharing security and bridging infrastructure.
The Optimism Collective operates with a unique governance model that separates technical decisions (Token House) from public-goods funding (Citizens' House), reflecting Wang and the team's commitment to retroactive public-goods funding and sustainable ecosystem development. In 2026, Optimism continues to be one of Ethereum's largest L2 ecosystems, with the OP Stack powering multiple chains including Base, Worldchain and others. Information last checked: August 2026.
