Bio
Hubertus Hofkirchner is an Austrian economist and entrepreneur and the Founder of Bitcredit Protocol, an open-source initiative exploring a flexible credit-money layer above Bitcoin. The project combines concepts such as bills of exchange, ecash and Bitcoin settlement to support working-capital finance and real-economy trade. Hofkirchner also hosts the Austrian Economics Salon at Vienna's Hayek Institute.
Bitcredit Protocol
Bitcredit proposes transferable trade-credit instruments and ecash-like representations settled against Bitcoin infrastructure. It aims to address working-capital needs without turning Bitcoin's base layer into a conventional credit ledger. Protocol design, issuer risk, legal enforceability, privacy, redemption and default handling require separate explanation. Do not call Bitcredit a bank, stablecoin or live legal tender. Bills of exchange depend on legal and commercial enforceability.
Career Background
Hofkirchner's background includes commercial and investment-banking experience, telecommunications leadership (including T-Mobile-related work) and earlier financial-market ventures involving online brokerage, digital options and prediction markets; verify entity names, roles and outcomes. 2024–2025 public discussions focused on Bitcoin supply chains and real-economy credit.
Current 2026 Work
Verify the live code, network status, governance and contributors through bit.cr and public repositories. Treat fundraising figures and roadmap dates as project claims unless corroborated. Distinguish an open-source protocol from regulated lending, deposit-taking or currency issuance.
