Fred Ehrsam is the Co-Founder and CEO of Nudge, a neurotechnology company, and Co-Founder of both Coinbase and Paradigm. His career spans the earliest years of mainstream crypto to frontier technology at the intersection of neuroscience and computing. He co-founded Coinbase with Brian Armstrong in 2012 after working as a foreign exchange trader at Goldman Sachs, where he studied economics at Duke University. He served as President of Coinbase until 2017 and continues as a Co-Founder and Board Director.
In 2018, he co-founded Paradigm with Matt Huang as a research-driven crypto investment firm. His current profile at Paradigm identifies him as Co-Founder and Senior Advisor, not as a day-to-day managing partner. Since 2023, his primary operating focus has shifted to Nudge, where he is building at the intersection of neurotechnology and human performance. Ehrsam has also been appointed to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) as of 2026.
