Alex Gluchowski is the Co-Founder and CEO of Matter Labs, the company behind ZKsync — one of Ethereum's leading zero-knowledge rollup scaling solutions. With a background in software engineering and applied cryptography, Gluchowski has been a driving force in bringing ZK-proof-based scaling to production on Ethereum.
Gluchowski co-founded Matter Labs in 2019 with a vision to scale Ethereum using zero-knowledge validity proofs, an approach that offers cryptographic guarantees of correctness for every transaction batch. ZKsync launched its first product, ZKsync Lite, in 2020, followed by ZKsync Era — a fully EVM-compatible ZK-rollup — in 2023. The ZK Stack, an open-source modular framework for building ZK-rollups, was released to enable a "hyperchain" ecosystem of interconnected ZK chains.
Under Gluchowski's leadership, Matter Labs has raised significant venture capital and positioned ZKsync as a major Ethereum L2 ecosystem. The ZK token and ZKsync governance launched in 2024. In 2026, Gluchowski continues to lead Matter Labs as CEO, driving the hyperchain vision and ZK-proof-based scaling infrastructure.
