Bio
Alejandro de la Torre is Co-Founder and CEO of DMND, a Bitcoin mining pool built around Stratum V2 and miner-controlled block construction. He has more than a decade of Bitcoin mining industry experience, including senior roles associated with BTC.com and Poolin, though the exact nature of his founding involvement at those earlier companies should be confirmed from primary sources rather than relying solely on conference biography wording.
What DMND Does
DMND is a Bitcoin mining pool focused on Stratum V2, an upgraded mining communication protocol that introduces encrypted connections between miners and pools and — critically — Job Declaration, which shifts block-template construction choices from pool operators back to individual miners. DMND is a trading name of Guru Protocol Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. The DMND team page lists Alejandro de la Torre as CEO and Filippo Merli as CTO.
Stratum V2 and Job Declaration
Stratum V2 is an open-source protocol developed with broader industry and community support; de la Torre did not invent it, but DMND has been an active commercial deployer. Job Declaration is the component of Stratum V2 that allows individual miners to select which transactions are included in blocks they mine, rather than accepting the pool's default template. This has implications for Bitcoin's censorship resistance and mining decentralization. DMND obtained SOC 2 Type 2 certification — an audit/compliance report on controls and security — which does not mean the pool is risk-free.
2026 Milestones
In June 2026, DMND and GoMining reported what they described as the first known Bitcoin block using Stratum V2 Job Declaration in a live production setting. "First known" is the appropriate qualifier rather than an absolute claim, as independent verification is needed to rule out unreported prior instances. In May 2026, DMND announced a Rootstock merge-mining integration; the production rollout status of that feature should be confirmed from current DMND releases. In August 2026, DMND integrated Mempool Accelerator revenue sharing, allowing miners using Job Declaration to select accelerated transactions and receive associated revenue when applicable. These are DMND and industry achievements; they should not be attributed solely to de la Torre personally.
Current 2026 Work
As of August 2026, de la Torre leads DMND's public Stratum V2 deployment, miner onboarding, protocol development, and Bitcoin mining pool operations. He speaks and writes on Bitcoin mining decentralization, pool censorship resistance, and miner economics.
