Overview

What Mercuryo Spend is

Mercuryo Spend is a card programme, not a card you sign up for directly. Mercuryo builds the infrastructure and lets crypto wallets and Web3 companies issue branded payment cards to their own users. The public card most people encounter is the Ledger-compatible Spend card, available inside Ledger Live.

That structure matters when you compare it with other cards in this directory: you do not apply to Mercuryo, you apply inside whatever wallet offers it. 500+ Web3 companies use Mercuryo's stack, including MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Ledger, 1inch, PancakeSwap, Bybit, Bitget Wallet, Tonkeeper and Quickex, and the card is branded to the partner rather than to Mercuryo.

The card itself

It is a Mastercard crypto debit card with access to more than 150 million merchants, issued as a virtual card by Quicko Sp. z o.o. and followed later by a physical card. You pre-load the card with crypto, and it supports 70+ cryptocurrencies across 14 chains - Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, TON, NEAR, Tron, BNB, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Avalanche, Linea and zkSync - with instant balance updates after top-up and Apple Pay and Google Pay support.

Pricing, which is genuinely simple

  • No issuance fee. The card is issued virtually within minutes at no cost.
  • The only charge is EUR 1 per month, and only after three consecutive months of inactivity. It is waived the moment you use the card again.
  • Limits: EUR 5,000 per transaction, EUR 10,000 a day, EUR 40,000 a month, with a EUR 2,500 top-up ceiling. Higher limits are available through a due diligence process.

Where it is available

The first public programme was EEA-only, which is a real constraint: Mercuryo states the card was available only to EEA account holders at launch. Because Spend is distributed through partners, an end user's eligibility ultimately depends on which wallet issues the card and where that wallet is licensed.

Rewards and gaps

A referral programme and cashback were announced as coming soon at launch, with no rates published, and the platform now lists user benefits and rewards as a feature - so rewards exist in the proposition but not as a stated percentage. ATM and cash withdrawal terms are not published either, and the EUR 2,500 top-up limit is on the low side for anyone planning to use the card as their main spending rail.

Who it suits

If you already use a supported wallet - Ledger above all - and want a card with no issuance cost and effectively no ongoing fee unless you stop using it, Spend is one of the cheapest structures available. What you give up is direct control: the card, its branding and some of its terms come from your wallet rather than from Mercuryo. Compare Bleap if you want to hold and spend in one place, or browse the crypto cards directory.

Supported Cryptocurrencies

What the platform supports

The Spend card platform supports 70+ cryptocurrencies across 14 leading L1 and L2 blockchains: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, TON, NEAR, Tron, BNB Chain, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Avalanche, Linea and zkSync. Mercuryo describes it as a multi-chain debit card for instant, contactless crypto payments.

Programme-by-programme differences

The first public card - the Ledger-compatible Spend card - launched with BTC and ETH support and expanded from there, with multi-chain support described as rolling out over the following months. Because Spend is distributed by partner wallets, the exact asset list can differ between programmes, so check what your wallet supports inside the app.

How spending works

You pre-load the card with crypto before spending, and the balance updates on the card instantly after a top-up. The card then pays merchants in fiat, converting from your loaded balance at the point of sale. Mercuryo's own consumer-facing product is a fiat on-ramp and off-ramp used by wallets across the industry, which is the infrastructure the card is built on.

Fees & Limits

Published

  • Card issuance: free. Mercuryo states there is no issuance fee.
  • Monthly maintenance: EUR 1, charged only after three consecutive months of inactivity, waived as soon as usage resumes.
  • Limits: EUR 5,000 per transaction, EUR 10,000 daily, EUR 40,000 monthly, EUR 2,500 top-up.

Not published

  • FX markup on spending in a currency other than EUR.
  • ATM fees and withdrawal limits.
  • Cashback and referral reward rates.
  • Physical card delivery cost.
  • Top-up fees, which may differ by the wallet issuing your card and the network used to deposit.

Why the inactivity-only fee is the standout

Most crypto cards either charge a monthly fee from day one or hide the cost in the conversion spread. Spend charges nothing while you are active and EUR 1 a month once you have stopped using it for three months, waived on return. The number to check instead is the rate you receive when the card converts your crypto into EUR at the merchant, which the partner wallet may set differently from Mercuryo's own rates.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • No issuance fee and effectively no ongoing cost: the EUR 1 monthly charge applies only after three months of inactivity and is waived on resuming use
  • Mastercard with access to more than 150 million merchants worldwide
  • 70+ cryptocurrencies supported across 14 chains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, TON, Tron, Base, Arbitrum and Polygon
  • Issued virtually within minutes, with a physical card following
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay support for online and in-store payments
  • Generous limits for a free card: EUR 5,000 per transaction, EUR 10,000 daily and EUR 40,000 monthly, extendable via due diligence
  • Co-branded card options let partners put their own design and brand on it
  • Backed by Mercuryo, a long-established crypto payments company used by 500+ Web3 businesses including MetaMask, Trust Wallet and Ledger
  • Instant card balance updates after topping up

Cons

  • Not sold directly to consumers: you get it through a wallet or platform that has integrated Spend
  • The initial public programme is EEA-only, so availability outside Europe depends on local partners
  • Top-up limit of EUR 2,500 is low, and the card must be pre-loaded with crypto before spending
  • Higher spending limits require a due diligence process
  • The EUR 1 monthly maintenance fee applies after three months of inactivity, so dormant cards cost money
  • Cashback and the referral programme were announced as coming soon and no rates are published
  • Cards issued this way are branded by the wallet rather than Mercuryo, so fees and terms can differ between partners
  • No ATM or cash withdrawal terms are published for the Spend card

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mercuryo Spend Card?

A Mastercard crypto debit card issued to end users through wallets and Web3 platforms that have integrated Mercuryo Spend. Rather than selling it directly, Mercuryo lets partners including Ledger, MetaMask and Trust Wallet offer a branded card inside their own app.
