Trump Media Bitcoin Holdings Shrink as Crypto Losses Hit $361 Million
Trump Media held 9,477.16 Bitcoin worth $557.1 million at the end of June, down 65 BTC from March. The company recorded $360.6 million in first-half digital-asset losses while its large Cronos position also suffered a steep valuation decline.

Trump Media and Technology Group reported a decline in its Bitcoin holdings during the second quarter as falling cryptocurrency prices generated hundreds of millions of dollars in losses for the Truth Social parent company.

According to the company's latest quarterly disclosure, Trump Media held 9,477.16 Bitcoin as of June 30, valued at approximately $557.1 million. That represents a decline from 9,542.16 BTC at the end of March, meaning the company's holdings fell by 65 BTC during the quarter.

The reduction comes as Trump Media continues navigating a difficult cryptocurrency market while simultaneously scaling back some of its previously announced digital-asset initiatives.

Trump Media Holds 9,477 Bitcoin

Trump Media has emerged as one of the publicly traded U.S. companies with significant exposure to Bitcoin.

At the end of June, the company's 9,477.16 BTC position carried a fair value of approximately $557.1 million.

At the end of 2025, Trump Media's Bitcoin position had been valued at roughly $836 million, demonstrating how significantly declining cryptocurrency prices affected the dollar value of its treasury.

The number of Bitcoin held also decreased during the latest quarter.

Trump Media reported 9,542.16 BTC at the end of March, compared with 9,477.16 BTC three months later.

That translates into a reduction of exactly 65 BTC.

The change is particularly noteworthy because corporate Bitcoin treasury strategies have attracted significant attention as public companies increasingly use cryptocurrency as part of their balance-sheet strategies.

Digital Asset Losses Reach $360.6 Million

Trump Media's exposure to cryptocurrency contributed substantially to its financial losses during the first half of 2026.

The company recorded approximately $360.6 million in losses related to digital assets and digital assets pledged during the six-month period.

A large portion of those losses was unrealized.

Unrealized losses occur when the market value of an asset falls below its previous carrying value even though the company has not necessarily sold the asset.

Bitcoin's weaker price performance during the first half of the year therefore had a direct impact on the reported value of Trump Media's crypto portfolio.

The situation demonstrates one of the major risks facing companies that maintain large cryptocurrency treasuries.

When Bitcoin appreciates, corporate holdings can significantly increase balance-sheet value. When prices fall sharply, however, the same strategy can generate substantial reported losses.

More Than 6,300 BTC Pledged

A significant portion of Trump Media's remaining Bitcoin is also committed as collateral.

As of June 30, the company had pledged approximately 4,260.73 BTC against convertible notes.

Another 2,077.34 BTC was pledged in connection with its Bitcoin options strategy.

Together, those positions represent more than 6,300 Bitcoin.

Pledging Bitcoin does not necessarily mean those assets have been sold. However, it means a large portion of the company's BTC holdings is connected to other financial arrangements rather than sitting completely unrestricted on its balance sheet.

This makes the structure of Trump Media's Bitcoin treasury important alongside the headline number of BTC owned.

Cronos Holdings Also Lose Significant Value

Bitcoin was not the only cryptocurrency contributing to Trump Media's declining digital-asset valuation.

The company continued to hold approximately 756.1 million Cronos (CRO) tokens.

Unlike its Bitcoin holdings, the number of CRO tokens remained largely unchanged.

Their market value, however, declined sharply.

Trump Media's CRO position was worth approximately $40.6 million at the end of June, compared with about $68 million at the end of 2025.

That represents a decline of roughly $27.4 million in fair value even though the underlying token holdings remained stable.

The development further demonstrates how the broader cryptocurrency downturn has affected Trump Media's digital-asset strategy beyond Bitcoin.

Trump Media Scales Back Crypto.com Plans

The financial disclosure comes only days after Trump Media reduced parts of its broader cryptocurrency ambitions.

Trump Media, Crypto.com and Yorkville Acquisition recently agreed to terminate a proposed business combination that would have created Trump Media Group CRO Strategy.

The publicly traded company was intended to establish a large corporate treasury centered around Cronos.

The companies cited prevailing market conditions along with changing business and stakeholder priorities when announcing the termination.

A separate arrangement involving Crypto.com and planned Yorkville America exchange-traded funds was also abandoned.

Under that partnership, Crypto.com would have provided services for certain proposed ETFs.

Yorkville America said its broader existing and future ETF plans remain unchanged despite the termination of that specific relationship.

Bitcoin Treasury Strategy Faces a Tougher Market

Trump Media's latest financial results highlight the challenges corporate crypto holders face when cryptocurrency prices decline.

Bitcoin treasury strategies became increasingly popular as companies looked to BTC as a long-term reserve asset and a potential alternative to holding large cash balances.

However, those strategies also create significant exposure to cryptocurrency market volatility.

Trump Media's situation provides a clear example.

The company still owns more than 9,400 BTC, making Bitcoin an important component of its digital-asset portfolio. At the same time, the fair value of that position has fallen substantially, while hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto-related losses have appeared in its financial results.

The company has also pledged much of its Bitcoin against financial arrangements, adding another layer to its treasury strategy.

What Comes Next for Trump Media's Crypto Strategy?

Investors will now be watching whether Trump Media continues reducing its Bitcoin holdings or maintains its remaining position through the current market cycle.

The cancellation of the CRO treasury deal and Crypto.com ETF servicing arrangement may also signal a more selective approach toward cryptocurrency-related expansion.

However, the company continues to maintain substantial exposure to both Bitcoin and Cronos.

With 9,477.16 BTC still on its balance sheet, changes in Bitcoin's market price could continue having a significant impact on Trump Media's reported digital-asset valuation.

The next several quarters could therefore provide a clearer indication of whether the company remains committed to its aggressive crypto treasury strategy or begins prioritizing liquidity and reduced digital-asset exposure.

For now, Trump Media remains a significant corporate Bitcoin holder — but its latest results demonstrate how quickly large crypto positions can turn from balance-sheet assets into major sources of accounting losses during a market downturn.
