Solana just topped every blockchain network in real-world asset inflows, and the margin was not close. Roughly $348 million in net distributed RWA value flowed onto the chain over 30 days per RWA Foundation data published Sept. 5, an 11.13% expansion that took Solana's total tokenized asset value to $4.23 billion across 398,644 tracked holder addresses. Ethereum, the sector's original home, grew 0.77% over the same window.
"@Solana is leading the pack. It topped net flows for RWAs over the past 30 days, pulling in $348 million to the chain. Data via @rwa_xyz." — RWA Foundation (@RWAFoundation_), September 5, 2026
Why institutions picked Solana for RWAs
The names doing the flowing explain the shift. BlackRock's BUIDL deployed to Solana via Securitize in March 2025 and accumulated more than $550 million on the chain by February 2026. Franklin Templeton's BENJI fund expanded to Solana in February 2025 and reached $753.24 million in net assets across all chains by June 30. VanEck's VBILL went live across Solana, Ethereum, Avalanche and BNB Chain in May 2025. Ondo launched hundreds of tokenized US stocks and ETFs on Solana in January, and WisdomTree opened direct institutional minting through WisdomTree Connect the same month. When 89% of tokenized RWAs sit idle despite a $34.6 billion market, the venues that actually move assets win by default, and Solana's low-latency settlement plus cheap transactions is what asset managers cite when they choose it over Ethereum's slower, costlier base layer.
The nuance the celebration misses: net flows measure minting minus redemption, not trading, and some of September's inflow is price appreciation in tokenized equities passing through Ondo's products rather than fresh deposits. The global distributed RWA sector sits near $38.1 billion as of early August, so $348 million is a strong month, not a migration.
What $4.23 billion does and doesn't do for SOL
Here is the part holders should internalize. RWA tokens on Solana are permissioned: KYC'd wallets, transfer whitelists, issuer freeze controls. That $4.23 billion is institutional capital parked on Solana rails, but it generates modest protocol fee capture, because these products settle through approved custodians, not through permissionless DeFi composability. Solana's reputation transformation from memecoin casino to Wall Street settlement layer is real, and it is the strongest fundamental signal SOL has had in years. But it is not the same as DeFi TVL, where every dollar locks value into the native economy.
The competitive read is equally blunt. Tokenized securities keep gaining official timelines worldwide, and institutions keep printing real transactions on these rails, so the network that hosts the next $10 billion of it will set the sector's standards. Right now that is Solana's race to lose. Watch whether Ethereum's stagnant flow is structural, fees and latency pushing issuers away, or cyclical, flagship products simply maturing first there. Another month like September on Solana and the question answers itself: the asset managers have already voted with their registrations, and the votes are not going back.
