Bitwise NEAR ETF Holds 15.8 Million Tokens as Fund Demand Comes Into Focus

Bitwise NEAR ETF Holds 15.8 Million Tokens | bitnxt.io

Summary

  • NRR began trading on NYSE Arca on September 29, 2026.

  • Official October 12 disclosures showed approximately 15.78 million NEAR held by the fund.

  • The product combines spot exposure with a staking strategy.

  • Holdings and assets under management do not establish cumulative net inflows.

The Bitwise NEAR ETF has accumulated approximately 15.78 million NEAR tokens, according to its October 12 holdings disclosure, giving investors a measurable snapshot of the recently launched fund. Its reported net assets stood at approximately $79.18 million.

The figures put substance behind growing attention to the product. They also raise a more useful question than whether its launch is simply “bullish”: how much sustained demand is reaching NEAR through the fund, and how should investors separate that demand from movements in the token’s price?

Holdings and net assets are dated October 12, 2026. Figures can change after that date.

Bitwise introduced NRR as the first U.S. spot NEAR exchange-traded product. Its investment proposition combines exposure to the token with participation in network staking rewards through an in-house staking operation.

Why the inflow claim needs a separate check

The circulating screenshot says the fund has attracted money on every day except one since launch, that October inflows are approaching $30 million, and that ETFs now hold more than 1% of NEAR tokens.

Those statements require additional evidence beyond the holdings snapshot.

A daily inflow streak needs a dated creation-and-redemption or net-flow series. The supply-share claim needs both a clearly defined group of funds and a matching supply denominator. Circulating supply and total supply can produce different percentages.

There is also a wording issue: the post moves from one Bitwise fund to “the ETFs.” Without identifying the products included, its aggregate claim cannot safely be assigned to NRR alone.

The verified conclusion is narrower: the fund holds a substantial quantity of NEAR. Its latest assets figure should not be presented as an equivalent amount of new investor money.

Staking adds another component to the investment

NRR’s staking arrangement means its economics extend beyond changes in NEAR’s market price.

Bitwise explains that staking rewards accrue to the trust and can increase net asset value per share. They are variable and do not represent a guaranteed fund return. The issuer also flags staking-related operational risks, including potential difficulties satisfying redemptions promptly.

This matters because a staking reward rate and an investor’s total return answer different questions. Token-price losses can outweigh rewards, while product expenses affect the result received by shareholders.

The same habit of examining where returns originate is explored in Bitnxt’s stablecoin yield explainer, although stablecoin yield and NEAR staking involve different mechanisms.

The AI investment thesis behind the launch

Bitwise has positioned NEAR around the intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchain-based transactions.

At launch, chief investment officer Matt Hougan said:

“NEAR sits at the intersection of two of the biggest trends in technology: AI and crypto.”

He pointed to NEAR Intents as part of the infrastructure supporting transactions by AI agents. That is the issuer’s investment thesis; it should be evaluated separately from evidence of fund subscriptions.

An exchange-traded product creates another route for investors to express that thesis. It does not, by itself, establish growth in application usage or revenue.

Readers comparing investment access can also consult Bitnxt’s crypto trading brokers directory, checking each provider’s available products and jurisdiction restrictions.

Bitnxt view: follow the demand after the launch

Bitnxt analysis: NRR gives NEAR an additional distribution channel through securities-market infrastructure. The next meaningful test is whether investor demand persists beyond the initial launch period.

Three measures deserve attention together: net creations, the number of tokens held, and changes in asset value. Looking at only one can produce an incomplete picture. Rising assets may reflect price appreciation; rising token holdings may also include staking rewards.

The stronger story will emerge when dated fund-flow disclosures can be compared with evidence of activity on the underlying network. Until then, the official holdings snapshot supports a report about the fund’s scale, rather than a declaration that ETF demand guarantees NEAR’s next price move.
