Bitcoin ETF inflows have hit eight straight days as August inflows topped $3 billion, already making it the strongest month of 2026 for spot Bitcoin funds.
August Becomes Strongest Month for Bitcoin ETFs in 2026
August inflows for the Bitcoin funds now sit above $3 billion, according to CoinDesk's live updates on Aug. 27. The eight-day consecutive inflow streak marks a significant turnaround for Bitcoin ETFs, which had experienced periods of net outflows earlier in the year. Bitcoin ETFs remain net negative for 2026 overall, but the sustained August buying suggests renewed institutional interest.
The inflow streak coincides with Bitcoin's strongest weekly performance in over three years, jumping nearly 25% to above $80,000. This ETF momentum reinforces the institutional adoption thesis, building on BlackRock's recent move to cut its IBIT Bitcoin swap minimum to $1M.
Bitcoin's Weekly Performance Reaches Three-Year High
Bitcoin posted its strongest three-day advance since 2023 during the previous week, rising from the low-$60,000 range to nearly $80,000 before giving back part of those gains. The rally was supported by ETF inflows, short covering, a weaker dollar and changes in Treasury bond markets. The simultaneous moves in Bitcoin and technology stocks reflected wider demand for risk assets following Nvidia's earnings report.
The sustained ETF buying also aligns with bullish forecasts from major financial institutions. Bernstein recently presented a related argument, saying debt concerns could accelerate Bitcoin's recovery, with a price target of $150K by mid-2027. BlackRock's global head of digital assets Robbie Mitchnick has also argued that rising U.S. debt above $40 trillion strengthens Bitcoin's investment case.
Bitcoin Tests Key Resistance at $80,000
Bitcoin gained roughly 2.4% to trade near $80,400 following Nvidia's earnings, allowing the cryptocurrency to test the psychologically important $80,000 level. The move coincided with stronger U.S. technology futures and gains across global semiconductor stocks. Bitcoin frequently trades alongside growth equities during broad risk-on sessions.
The eight-day inflow streak provides fundamental support for the price rally, but Bitcoin remains below its January highs. Analysts have identified the $81,000-$86,000 range as a key hurdle for Bitcoin to reach its previous peak. The next key data points will be whether ETF inflows continue into September and whether Bitcoin can sustain its position above $80,000.
