Bitcoin Holds Above $65,000 as CLARITY Act Vote Moves to September
Bitcoin held above $65,000 despite the Senate delaying further action on the CLARITY Act until September. Continued spot ETF inflows, a softer U.S. dollar and improving market sentiment helped BTC recover as investors shifted attention toward macroeconomic catalysts.

Bitcoin remained above $65,000 on Monday, showing resilience even after the U.S. Senate failed to pass the closely watched CLARITY Act before lawmakers left for their August recess.

The cryptocurrency market continued its recovery despite the legislative setback, suggesting traders are currently placing greater importance on improving liquidity conditions, continued spot ETF inflows and a weaker U.S. dollar than on short-term developments in Washington.

Bitcoin traded near $65,200, gaining approximately 3.7% over the previous seven days after recovering from an early-August low near $62,000.

Bitcoin Extends Recovery Above $65,000

Bitcoin's recovery has been accompanied by gains across several major cryptocurrencies.

Ether traded around $1,925, while BNB, Solana and TRON also recorded weekly advances. The broad improvement suggests the rebound is not limited to Bitcoin and reflects stronger risk appetite across much of the digital-asset market.

Bitcoin's ability to stay above $65,000 is particularly notable given the disappointment surrounding the CLARITY Act, one of the cryptocurrency industry's most closely watched pieces of U.S. legislation.

Instead of triggering a major selloff, however, the Senate delay produced a relatively muted market response.

That reaction suggests traders may have already anticipated the possibility that lawmakers would fail to complete the legislation before the August recess.

Senate Pushes CLARITY Act Action to September

The Senate failed to secure enough votes to move the CLARITY Act forward before lawmakers departed for their summer break.

The legislation received 51 votes, short of the 60 required to advance. As a result, further Senate action is not expected until lawmakers return, with September 14 emerging as the earliest potential date for another procedural step.

The CLARITY Act is intended to establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States, including the responsibilities of major financial regulators overseeing the cryptocurrency market.

Its progress has been closely followed by crypto companies and investors seeking greater certainty around how digital assets will be regulated.

The delay creates additional uncertainty, but Bitcoin's response indicates the setback was largely anticipated.

ETF Inflows Provide Support for Bitcoin

While regulatory headlines remain important, capital flows appear to be providing stronger support for cryptocurrency prices.

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds have recorded consecutive days of positive inflows, providing additional institutional demand for the cryptocurrency.

ETF flows have become an increasingly important market indicator because they offer insight into demand from investors using traditional financial products to gain Bitcoin exposure.

Sustained inflows can create additional buying pressure and help offset selling elsewhere in the market.

That dynamic appears to be playing a significant role in Bitcoin's latest recovery.

Weaker Dollar Improves Market Conditions

Macroeconomic conditions are also becoming more favorable for Bitcoin.

The U.S. dollar weakened following softer employment data, easing one of the pressures that had weighed on Bitcoin during the summer.

A weaker dollar can support cryptocurrencies and other risk-sensitive assets because it often reflects changing expectations for U.S. monetary policy and financial conditions.

Investors are now watching upcoming U.S. inflation data for additional clues about the Federal Reserve's next steps.

If inflation continues to moderate, expectations for less restrictive monetary policy could provide further support for Bitcoin. Conversely, unexpectedly strong inflation could strengthen the dollar and Treasury yields, potentially challenging the crypto recovery.

Michael Saylor Fuels Bitcoin Purchase Speculation

Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor added another element of optimism over the weekend by posting the company's familiar Bitcoin acquisition chart alongside the phrase "Doing business."

The post was interpreted by some market participants as a potential signal that Strategy could announce another Bitcoin purchase.

The speculation follows the company's disclosure that it sold approximately 1,638 BTC to help fund preferred-stock repurchases.

Saylor has repeatedly used social media posts featuring Strategy's Bitcoin acquisition tracker ahead of announcements, making his latest message closely watched by traders.

For now, however, Bitcoin's strength appears to be driven primarily by broader market conditions rather than political developments.

With BTC holding above $65,000 despite the CLARITY Act delay, ETF demand, dollar weakness and upcoming U.S. economic data may determine whether the cryptocurrency can extend its recovery.
