Roger Ver is an early Bitcoin investor and entrepreneur, widely recognized as one of the first prominent public advocates for Bitcoin. He is known as an early participant in the Bitcoin ecosystem beginning around 2011, investing in and promoting early Bitcoin-related companies including BitInstant, Blockchain.com (formerly blockchain.info), Kraken, and others. He previously served as CEO and later Executive Chairman of Bitcoin.com. His current formal role at Bitcoin.com has not been independently confirmed as of August 2026; his profile appropriately reflects former executive status.
Ver's later advocacy became strongly associated with Bitcoin Cash (BCH) after the August 2017 hard fork, a position publicly at odds with the Bitcoin (BTC) maximalist community. He renounced his U.S. citizenship in 2014 and acquired citizenship in Saint Kitts and Nevis. In 2024, Ver was indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice on tax-related charges. In October 2025, he entered a deferred prosecution agreement, paid approximately $50 million in taxes, penalties, and interest, and the government subsequently moved to dismiss the indictment. The resolved legal matter is disclosed as material historical context; no unresolved charges from this matter remain pending as of August 2026 based on the DOJ's motion to dismiss. His personal website is rogerver.com.
