Bio
Fan Long is the Co-Founder of Conflux Network and an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. His academic background spans Tsinghua University's prestigious Yao Class and an MIT PhD in computer science, where his doctoral work gained recognition for contributions to program analysis and software security. He later joined the University of Toronto faculty, where he researches programming languages, security, and distributed systems.
His entry into blockchain arose from academic work on scalable consensus mechanisms, leading him to co-found Conflux alongside collaborators including Ming Wu, Yuanjie Zhang, and researchers connected to Turing Award laureate Andrew Yao's academic network. Conflux developed the Tree-Graph consensus protocol, which processes blocks in a directed acyclic graph structure rather than a single chain, enabling higher transaction throughput without sacrificing decentralization. As of August 2026, Fan Long remains a co-founder of Conflux while continuing his academic research, including exploring intersections between AI and blockchain systems.
