Bio
Bobby Lee is the Founder and CEO of Ballet, a physical cryptocurrency cold storage card company, and the Co-Founder and Former CEO of BTCC (formerly BTC China), one of China's earliest and historically significant Bitcoin exchanges.
Lee studied computer science at Stanford University (degree details unverified from first-party sources) and worked in technology roles at companies including Yahoo and Walmart before entering the Bitcoin space. He co-founded BTC China — later rebranded to BTCC — in 2011, making it one of the world's first major Bitcoin exchanges. He served as CEO until BTCC was sold in 2018. He is not the current CEO of BTCC.
In 2019, Lee founded Ballet, a company producing physical cold storage cards pre-loaded with randomly generated private keys that users activate by adding a second passphrase. Ballet's model is distinct from hardware wallets — it is a non-electronic physical card with multi-layer key generation, designed for ease of use and gifting. As of August 2026, Ballet continues to operate under Lee's leadership, offering multi-currency cold storage cards, a companion app, and additional security features.
