Tangem Ring

The Tangem Ring is the world's first ring-shaped hardware wallet — a wearable NFC signing device machined from hypoallergenic zirconia ceramic that you wear on your finger and tap against your phone to authorize Bitcoin and crypto transactions. Shipping since 2024, the ring is the most portable cold-storage device on the consumer market and the clearest expression of Tangem's thesis that a hardware wallet should be something you actually carry every day.

Never needs charging. The ring has no battery — it draws power from the NFC field of your phone at the moment you tap. You never need a cable, a charger or a power bank. Smart backup, three devices, one key. The Tangem Ring set ships with the ring itself plus two Tangem backup cards in the same box. At activation, the ring's secure element generates a random private key and Tangem's smart-backup protocol writes encrypted copies to the two cards. The private key lives on the ring and the two cards — no other copies exist anywhere in the world. Lose the ring and you can restore your entire wallet in minutes from either card by tapping it on your phone.

Hardened CC EAL6+ chip, audited firmware. The ring's secure element is certified to Common Criteria EAL6+, one of the highest security certifications available in a consumer device. The firmware cannot be updated on a deployed device — removing the single largest supply-chain attack vector on consumer wallets — and has been independently audited by both Kudelski Security and Riscure, both of which confirmed no backdoors or vulnerabilities. No Tangem hardware wallet has been hacked since the company's inception in 2017.

Access Code + Biometrics

CC EAL6+ Certified Secure Element

Smart Backup Protocol

• At activation the ring's chip generates a random private key inside its secure element. The key is then encrypted and written to the two included Tangem backup cards using Tangem's smart-backup protocol.
• The private key lives on the ring and the two cards, with no other copies anywhere in space or time.
• The encrypted replicas can never be read out in plaintext — even by Tangem — because they require the access code tied to the original ring.

Access Code + Biometric Authorization

• Every signing operation requires you to remove the ring from your finger, tap it on your phone's NFC reader, and then enter an access code (PIN) or pass biometric verification in the Tangem app.
• The 'remove-the-ring-from-your-finger' requirement defeats shoulder-bump relay attacks in crowds — a stranger cannot tap your hand on the train and drain your wallet.
• Brute-force attempts on the access code are hard-locked inside the secure element, locking the chip after a small number of wrong attempts.
• There is no factory reset path for a stolen ring. Without the correct access code, the ring is technically useless.

Physical Hardening

• IP69K rated against dust and high-pressure high-temperature water jets — survives daily wear, showering, swimming and weather.
