Ethereum ETF Inflows Reach $1.42B as BlackRock Buys Daily

Ethereum ETF inflows reach $1.42 billion as BlackRock continues daily ETH purchases.

Summary :

  • Ethereum ETF inflows hit $1.42 billion across nine straight positive sessions.

  • BlackRock's ETHA absorbed $1.02 billion — 72% of all category flows.

  • The Aug. 28 haul of $225.8 million was the best day in 10 months.

  • The gap with Bitcoin ETF inflows narrowed to just $16.5 million.

  • Spot volume sits in its 16th percentile, questioning flow durability.

Ethereum ETF inflows reached $1.42 billion across nine consecutive positive sessions — with BlackRock's ETHA fund absorbing $1.02 billion, or 72% of every dollar that entered the category, in the most concentrated and most lopsided burst of institutional Ethereum buying since the spot funds launched.

The streak, which ran through Aug. 28, peaked with $225.8 million in net inflows on its final day — the strongest single session in 10 months — narrowing the gap with Bitcoin ETF flows to just $16.5 million, after Bitcoin funds had taken in roughly ten times as much as Ethereum on the streak's first day. The last net outflow day for the Ethereum funds was Aug. 11, and every session since Aug. 17 has been positive.

One issuer bought nearly everything

BlackRock has not missed a single day of net buying across the entire run. Blockchain analytics firm Arkham counted $889.8 million into ETHA across the first eight days — a figure that matches Farside Investors' tally exactly, providing independent on-chain confirmation — before the ninth session pushed the total past $1 billion. Fidelity's FETH posted its best day at $56.2 million on Aug. 28, and BlackRock's staked Ethereum product ETHB added $20.7 million, but neither approached ETHA's consistency.

That 72% share is historically abnormal. During the initial wave of spot Ethereum ETF inflows in mid-2025, BlackRock held roughly 40% to 50% of category flows. The current concentration suggests the buying originates from a narrow set of institutional allocators routing through BlackRock — and the distribution advantage is structural rather than accidental. The iShares platform serves more than 30,000 registered investment advisors in the United States, and its model portfolio program automatically rebalances client allocations: when the model team increases an ETH allocation, every subscribed client account buys ETHA simultaneously. No other Ethereum issuer has comparable model-portfolio penetration, Fidelity's crypto models have been more conservative, and Grayscale's legacy ETHE continues to bleed as holders who bought at premiums exit at net asset value. Goldman Sachs' agreement to acquire Neos Investments for up to $2.25 billion — adding Bitcoin and Ethereum options income ETFs — signals that the largest banks now treat crypto ETF distribution as a revenue line, but its effect on flows will take quarters.

The volume contradiction beneath Ethereum ETF inflows

The streak's hidden weakness is spot trading activity. Since the price rally began around Aug. 19, spot volume has softened to its 16th percentile year on year — meaning the price advance rests almost entirely on primary-market creations rather than secondary-market conviction. Flow-driven rallies can persist while model portfolios keep allocating, but they lack the broad participation that sustains breakouts, and daily inflows roughly doubled between the first and last four sessions of the streak, a pattern suggesting early allocations triggered follow-on buying from flow-momentum systems rather than independent conviction.

Technically, Ethereum hovers around its 200-week moving average for the first time since breaking support in late January, with roughly 1.1 million ETH accumulated near that level — supply that acted as resistance on previous approaches. Bitcoin's breakout has grabbed the tape, but Ether gained nearly 29% in a week during the streak's macro tailwind, and institutional conviction in ETH-adjacent exposure keeps building.

What the streak actually proves

Nine days of concentrated buying proves distribution power more than market conviction. BlackRock's machine can move ETH prices because it moves client money in bulk — but a category where one issuer captures 72% of flows is a category whose momentum depends on one firm's model-portfolio committee, and spot volume in the 16th percentile says organic demand has not yet joined. The bull case needs the next phase: other issuers catching up, spot volume normalizing, and ETH clearing that 200-week supply. Until then, the strongest Ethereum ETF streak on record is simultaneously evidence of institutional interest and a reminder of how narrow its source remains.
