The Binance Stocks Account migration starts with a wallet change, not an order to sell customers' crypto. From Sept. 29, Binance plans to move non-stock assets out of Funding Accounts and into Spot Accounts. The old Funding Account will eventually become a dedicated Stocks Account for eligible U.S. equities, stock options and six settlement assets. Binance expects the rename in January 2027, but has not supplied an exact day. Users can make some transfers early through a coming One-Click Migration tool; remaining eligible balances are meant to move automatically in later batches. The practical risk is that a familiar account name and deposit route may no longer mean what it did before.
How the Binance Stocks Account migration works
The six settlement assets designated to remain available in the future securities account are USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB. They can move internally between the Spot and Stocks accounts for supported activities. Direct onchain deposits and withdrawals will not be offered from the Stocks Account, even for those assets. A customer seeking to withdraw a stablecoin or BNB to an external wallet must first move it to Spot and use the supported Spot withdrawal process. Non-stock crypto deposits and withdrawals will be handled through Spot as the old Funding structure is phased out.
Binance says balances and transaction histories will remain intact after migration. That does not remove the need for customers or businesses to update the accounts their automated systems reference. The exchange is advising API users that integrations tied to Funding may need to point to Spot as services move. An account migration is easy to describe in an announcement; it is less trivial for a company whose payout system assumes every transfer will settle to the old wallet.
The distinction between direct stocks and bStocks matters. Binance says its directly held U.S. equities and physically settled stock options will remain in the Stocks Account. Its bStocks are blockchain-based tokens linked to securities and will instead move to Spot. A bStock's price exposure is not identical to the shareholder rights of a conventional stock holding. The questions around tokenized stock demand show why a familiar ticker can conceal important differences in custody and legal claims.
Pay, Convert and Alpha will change account defaults
Payments arriving through Binance Pay, Card and Gift Card are expected to credit Spot beginning Sept. 29. Funding balances may still be available as a Pay source for a transition period, but Binance intends to remove them before the Stocks Account rename. A recurring payment funded solely by the old source could stop executing once it is removed. Users who rely on scheduled sends should check the configured funding source rather than assume the system will choose a replacement for them.
Convert orders also change where assets return. Existing limit orders with funds frozen in Funding can remain open, while orders settling or expiring after Sept. 29 are expected to return funds to Spot. New limit orders will use Spot for freezing and settlement. Recurring Convert orders can route according to their Spot or Earn configuration. The difference is visible in account balances even if a trade itself is unaffected, so traders should check the post-settlement destination when reconciling records.
For Binance Alpha 2.0, stablecoins used in limit-order transactions and associated liquidity-provider rebates will move through Alpha Accounts. Binance says the account is already part of its structure, so affected users do not need to create a second login or new account manually. But traders with scripts or bookkeeping that assume the Funding wallet is the source of every transaction should still review the new flow.
P2P advertisers get their own account
P2P users without recent advertising activity or merchant status are expected to use Spot as their default source after updating their app. Advertisers will keep using Funding for posted ads, maker and taker orders and related deposits during the transition. Binance plans a dedicated P2P Account in December and says listings can retain their existing update times so migration does not disturb ranking. Ads not moved into the new account after January 2027 may be closed automatically. That is a consequential deadline for merchants who rely on always-on listings.
Older mobile-app versions may not display the One-Click Migration control or support the new P2P account behavior. Binance says the later automatic backend transfer will still occur for eligible balances, but customers who want to choose an early transfer should update through official app channels. Unsolicited messages offering to perform the migration should not be treated as account instructions.
The reorganization follows Binance's push into directly held equities and options for eligible users, as well as a separate ETF product lineup. The exchange previously reported more than $1 billion in holdings through its Direct Stocks offering after its June launch, a company figure rather than a measure of what this migration will add. Regional eligibility for the securities products still applies. Relabeling the Funding wallet does not suddenly make them available in every jurisdiction.
What customers should check before January
The change consolidates crypto in Spot while isolating securities activity in an account designed for its settlement requirements. That could make the interface clearer in time. During the transition, however, a customer needs to know where incoming payments land, which account a Convert order uses, and whether a merchant ad or recurring payment still has a valid source. The wider split between tokenized and conventional equities adds another reason to verify the instrument as well as the account name.
Binance has not announced every batch date. For now, the reliable milestones are Sept. 29 for the initial account changes, December for dedicated P2P advertiser accounts, and January for automatic batches and the planned rename. Checking account destinations at each step will matter more than the branding on a new tab.
