Regulation Overview

Argentina regulates the service-provider perimeter rather than declaring crypto sovereign money. Law 27,739 brought VASPs into the AML framework and empowered the Comisión Nacional de Valores to maintain and supervise the PSAV register. CNV General Resolution 1058 established the operational registration and compliance regime from May 2025. Tokens that are negotiable securities remain under capital-markets rules. The Argentine peso is legal tender; crypto may be used voluntarily by agreement but is not state-issued money.

Tax Information

Crypto can produce taxable income or capital results and may also be relevant for personal-assets reporting. Classification, source and valuation depend on the taxpayer and transaction.

Individual Tax Treatment

Individuals should evaluate income tax on disposals or business-like activity and personal-assets tax reporting where applicable. Keep acquisition cost, wallet, exchange and peso-valuation records.

Business Tax Treatment

Businesses account for crypto revenue, gains and holdings under normal corporate, VAT and accounting rules. PSAV reporting and information duties may give tax authorities transaction visibility.

Business & Licensing

A person carrying on covered PSAV activities in or directed to Argentina must assess CNV registration, minimum-equity, governance, custody, cybersecurity and reporting obligations under the applicable category.

AML / KYC Requirements

Registered PSAVs are AML-obliged entities and must perform customer identification, beneficial-owner checks, risk monitoring, recordkeeping and suspicious-transaction reporting to the UIF.
