Blur is a professional Ethereum NFT marketplace and aggregator built for active traders, flippers, and serious collectors. Founded in October 2022 by Tieshun Roquerre (known as "Pacman") and Anthony Liu ("Galaga") — and backed by Paradigm — Blur scaled into one of the largest marketplaces by trading volume within months of launch.
Blur's philosophy is explicit: it is a platform built for traders, not casual buyers. Where OpenSea optimizes for beginner accessibility, Blur optimizes for speed, market depth, and zero-fee economics — letting users trade NFTs more like they would trade stocks.
Beyond its own orderbook, Blur aggregates listings from OpenSea, X2Y2, LooksRare, and other venues — bringing over $1.4 billion of premium listing inventory into a single screen, with the cheapest available listing routed automatically when you buy.
Blur runs exclusively on the Ethereum blockchain. It is fully non-custodial, signing every action through MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, or any WalletConnect-compatible EVM wallet. There is no mobile app — the platform is built desktop-first for power users.
In its early releases Blur popularized the concepts of floor sweeping, real-time floor pricing, collection bids, and trait-based bidding — features that have since spread across the rest of the industry. It was also among the first platforms to make a native ERC-20 governance and rewards token, BLUR, central to its incentive design.
Today Blur consists of four layers: the zero-fee Blur Marketplace with fully featured bulk-list and sweep tooling; the Blend peer-to-peer lending protocol; deep real-time analytics; and a trader-points rewards program paid out in BLUR to active participants. Together, these prop up a market position specifically tuned for the pro onchain economy.
