It pairs a certified EAL5+ Secure Element running Ledger's own Ledger OS™ with a Trusted Display, so you physically verify and approve every transaction on the device before it's signed.

Trusted Display & two-button control

A bright monochrome screen plus two physical buttons let you read and approve every transaction on the device itself. Even if your computer or phone is compromised, the Nano S Plus says no to any action you didn't explicitly confirm on its own screen.

USB-C, compact and battery-free

No charging, no battery to degrade. The USB-C port keeps the Nano S Plus compact and pocket-sized, and the durable metal-and-plastic body shrugs off everyday use. It works on desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and Android via USB-C or OTG.

Ledger Recover (optional)

For users who worry about losing their seed phrase, Ledger offers the paid, opt-in Ledger Recover service, which splits your recovery phrase into encrypted fragments held by three separate custodians and reassembles them only with your identity verification. Fully optional — you can ignore it and keep a classic offline backup.

EAL5+ Secure Element + Ledger OS

At its core the Nano S Plus uses a certified Common Criteria EAL5+ Secure Element running Ledger's proprietary Ledger OS™. The private keys are generated and stored inside the chip and never leave it in plain text — not even your computer or a malicious app can read them.

Trusted Display

The on-device screen is driven directly by the Secure Element, meaning what you see on the display is exactly what the chip will sign. This blocks "blind-signing" attacks where a hacked computer shows you a harmless-looking transaction while submitting a malicious one.

Defence-in-depth firmware

Ledger signs every firmware update, and the Secure Element verifies the signature before installing — a rogue or tampered update cannot run. Ledger's in-house security team, Ledger Donjon, constantly conducts security research, hardware attacks and bounty programs to keep the platform hardened.

No Bluetooth = smaller attack surface

Unlike the Nano X, the S Plus is USB-only, which removes the entire wireless radio attack surface — a deliberate trade-off that keeps the budget device simpler and cheaper to secure.
