CC EAL 6+ Secure Element

The CoolWallet Go carries a CC EAL 6+ certified secure element — the same chip certification level used in government IDs, passports and EMV bank cards, and one of the highest Common Criteria (ISO/IEC 15408) protection levels used in mainstream hardware wallets today. Your private keys are generated inside the secure element during manufacture and never leave it — not even in encrypted form. The chip isolation means the keys are physically shielded from extraction, side-channel attacks, and software-based malware that might be running on your paired phone.

Independently Penetration-Tested by eShard

The CoolWallet Go's chip and firmware have been independently penetration-tested by eShard, the Paris-based smartcard security laboratory that audits some of the world's largest EMV payment card programs. eShard's audit covers power analysis, side-channel and fault-injection attack vectors, providing third-party assurance that the keys cannot be extracted from the card by physical or electrical tampering. NFC Tap-to-Sign Architecture

Unlike Bluetooth or USB hardware wallets that pair once and maintain a persistent radio link to your phone, the CoolWallet Go is inert unless it is being physically tapped against the back of your phone. The NFC field powers the secure element for the few hundred milliseconds needed to authenticate the transaction, and then the card is dead again — there is no continuous connection to attack or hijack. Combined with the CC EAL6+ chip, this gives the Go a much smaller attack surface than Bluetooth-paired competitors.

ECIES-Encrypted Card-to-Card Backup

The Go's signature security feature is the one-tap ECIES (Elliptic Curve Integrated Encryption Scheme) backup. Each Go is sold as a 2-card set; tapping the blank backup card against your initialized Go encrypts and copies the wallet state into the backup card's secure element under an ECIES keypair. Even if someone steals the backup card, they cannot extract your keys without the CoolWallet App PIN and your biometric unlock. This means you can have a fully redundant cold-storage backup without ever writing down the BIP39 seed phrase.

Smart Scan Scam Detection

Inside the CoolWallet App, every transaction you attempt is screened by the Smart Scan engine, which checks the destination address against known scam-address databases, mixer interactions and phishing-contract addresses, and warns you before you tap to confirm. Combined with cool-wallet-only signing (your phone cannot initiate a sign on its own — you must tap the card every time), Smart Scan provides an effective defense layer against the most common types of crypto-phishing attacks.
