Overview

GoBTC Pay is a Bitcoin-native payment protocol launched in May 2026 by GoMining (operated by GoBTC Pay America LLC). It enables instant, on-chain Bitcoin payments at the point of sale — online or in-store — without payment channels, fiat conversion, or custody trade-offs.

The protocol is built on a simple idea: paying in Bitcoin should feel practical without losing the qualities that make Bitcoin worth holding. When a customer pays at a GoBTC merchant, the transaction is broadcast to GoMining’s dedicated mining pool, which prioritises it for inclusion in the next block. The merchant receives BTC directly to a wallet they control — funds never pass through GoBTC Pay.

GoBTC Pay is non-custodial by design, using a 2-of-3 multi-sig architecture: the user holds one key (everyday key), GoBTC Pay holds one (co-signing key), and a trusted independent custody provider holds the third (recovery key). This means GoBTC Pay can never move a user’s Bitcoin alone, and users can always recover their funds even if GoBTC Pay is unavailable.

Pricing is Bitcoin-friendly: zero fees for users and a flat 0.2% fee for merchants, split so that 0.1% goes to miners and 0.1% goes to participating wallets — creating a flywheel where every payment strengthens the infrastructure. GoBTC Pay also offers an SDK for wallets and platforms to integrate Bitcoin payments for their users.

Best for: Bitcoin-first merchants and wallets that want native on-chain BTC payments without custodial risk, fiat conversion, or card-style chargebacks.

Fees & Pricing

Fee structure

  • Users (payers) — 0% / free. You pay exactly the amount shown; GoBTC Pay charges nothing to spend.
  • Merchants — 0.2% per transaction, taken at the moment of settlement. The merchant receives the remaining amount directly to their own wallet.
  • Fee split — 0.1% goes to miners (GoMining pool) and 0.1% goes to participating wallets, creating a sustainable adoption flywheel.

Other costs

  • Setup fee — none.
  • Monthly fee — none.
  • Chargebacks — none (Bitcoin payments are final).
  • Network fees — standard Bitcoin network transaction fees apply, prioritised by GoMining’s pool for fast inclusion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is GoBTC Pay and how does it work?

GoBTC Pay is a Bitcoin payment protocol that lets people spend BTC at the point of sale — instantly, on Bitcoin's base layer, with no fee for the user. When a customer pays at a GoBTC merchant, the transaction is broadcast to GoMining's dedicated mining pool, which prioritises it for inclusion in the next block. There are no payment channels to manage, no fiat conversion, and no custody trade-offs.

Is GoBTC Pay custodial?

No. GoBTC Pay is non-custodial — your Bitcoin stays in your own wallet. It uses a 2-of-3 multi-sig setup: you hold one key, GoBTC Pay holds one (co-signing), and a trusted independent custody provider holds the third (recovery key). GoBTC Pay can never move your Bitcoin alone, and if it won't co-sign, you can recover your funds using your key plus the recovery key the custody provider releases for you.

What does it cost to use GoBTC Pay?

Users pay nothing — 0% fees — you pay exactly the amount shown. Merchants pay a flat 0.2% per transaction, taken at the moment of settlement. The fee is split so 0.1% goes to miners and 0.1% goes to participating wallets. There are no setup or monthly fees.

How fast are GoBTC Pay transactions?

The shop can accept your payment right away, so you don't wait at the till. The Bitcoin network then confirms it in the background, prioritised by GoMining's dedicated mining pool for fast inclusion in the next block. Your total never changes.

How do merchants start accepting Bitcoin with GoBTC Pay?

Sign up as a merchant, complete a quick business verification (KYB), and connect a wallet you control. Then accept payments by QR code, payment link, or online checkout. Customer payments settle directly to your own wallet — funds never pass through GoBTC Pay.

Are Bitcoin payments reversible?

No. Once confirmed, a Bitcoin payment is final and cannot be undone by anyone. Refunds are arranged directly with the business as a new payment from the merchant's wallet back to the customer. There are no card-style chargebacks.

Which cryptocurrencies does GoBTC Pay support?

GoBTC Pay currently supports Bitcoin (BTC) only. It is a Bitcoin-native payment protocol focused on on-chain BTC settlement.

Can wallets and platforms integrate GoBTC Pay?

Yes. GoBTC Pay offers an SDK for wallets and platforms to integrate Bitcoin payments for their users. Participating wallets earn a 0.1% share of settlement fees on every transaction.
